Abstract
Based on the method of characteristics (MOC), the problem of spherical wave propagation under the double exponential blasting loads in 3D infinite elastic rock and soil is studied in this paper. The solution procedures of MOC for blasting-induced spherical wave are introduced, and the corresponding calculated results of the radial stress, circumference stress, velocity and displacement are presented and discussed. The results show MOC provides a powerful tool for high-standard calibration of dynamic numerical algorithm, and the MOC solution of blasting spherical wave plays an important role in the numerical analysis of blasting engineering.
