Abstract
This paper describes a software system for performing distributing computing according to the 'Grid Computing' paradigm. The proposed system improves many characteristics of previous Grid systems, concerning in particular the distribution of the code and the execution times. The idea behind this work was to use XML to describe algorithms; XML documents are easily distributed and executed using a virtual machine. An assembly-like language, called XML-VM, has been developed in XML. Parsing of the documents are implemented using the parser of Apache XML-RPC while the interpret is written in JAVA. Several algorithms have been written in XML-VM and executed in a distributed environment; representative experimental results are reported.
