Abstract

The advent of high capacity digita1 microwave radio equipment is providing an attractive alternative for PCM transmission. A 90 Mb/s digital radio is described here which uses 8 PSK modu1ation, low loss filtering, and modern solid-state design to achieve a high system gain. A1so inc1uded is the performance of this radio when fi1tered to 2.26 bits/Hz and the performance with very heavy fi1tering needed to achieve 3 bits/Hz.
