Abstract
This paper proposed a smooth boundary point adaptive quantization scheme used for image compression. The proposed algorithm is first validated through Matlab simulation then implemented together with a CMOS image sensor. Simulation and experimental results show that compression figures corresponding to 0.6-0.8 bit-per-pixel are achieved while maintaining reasonable image quality.
