Abstract

Finline and E-plane structures in general have lent themselves well to millimetric circuits applications as a transmission media compatible with device integration. Theoretical analyses of Finline have mainly been concerned with the fundamental mode with little published on higher order modes or the assessment of losses. Although recent work on higher order modes has gone so far as to predict complex mode propagation under certain circumstances, it has been widely acknowledged that searching for higher order modes becomes increasingly difficult with higher mode order. Since knowledge of these modes is essential for the analysis of discontinuities further work is needed in this area.
