Abstract

The charge transport in low conductivity fluids is studied numerically for the wire-plane configuration. A simple conduction model, based on dissociation and recombination processes, is assumed. The numerical algorithm uses the Finite Element Method for the electric field, and the Method of Characteristics for the density of positive and negative ions. The results of simulation show effect of the nondimensional residual conductivity number on the thickness of the heterocharge layers close to both electrodes and distribution of the net space charge.
