The design process is described in a systematic manner, in the beginning, single square patch with square shaped split ring slot is established. Subsequently the two element MIMO antenna is designed. The elements are placed opposite side to each other. The reduction of mutual coupling between the antenna elements is accomplished by defect introduced on the ground plane. The proposed single-element and two-element antenna operated at 5.8GHz. The FR4 substrate is used with the 0.8mm thickness. The substrate width and length is 34.485mm and 42.837mm respectively. The size of the patch is 9mm x 9mm. The functional parameter namely, S parameter, radiation pattern and ECC of the proposed MIMO antenna, are investigated.
