The first part compares the performance of the ordered successive cancellation (OSIC) receiver, with independent encoding per antenna at the transmitter, with the MMSE receiver joint encoding at the transmitter. We show that the latter system has better performance in terms of outage throughput at low and moderate SNR. In the second half, receive antenna sub-set selection is discussed for MIMO-SM systems. In particular, we develop fast, near optimal algorithms that achieved most of the selection gains.
