For this, we will analyze the following cases: the Mineira and Baiana Conjurations, in 1789 and 1798, respectively, in addition to the movements that occurred in Pernambuco and parts of the current Northeast in 1817 and 1824. For this, we will tell the construction of the concept “republican matrices” , developed by authors Heloisa Starling and Lilia Schwartz. Here, not only the republic will be highlighted, ideas such as federalism, autonomy and slavery will be highlighted. It is in these republican discussions that the activity of the press also played a significant role, whether in the form of a clandestine press, in the illegal importation of books into Brazil, as well as in the periodical press, using lampoons and newspapers to express support for the new system. of government, the republic. Faced with such approaches, this work will serve as an aid to compare some of the Brazilian republican movements and in which they differ from one another.
