Abstract
This paper presents the current status of technological development and mechatronics with the feasibility study of a course at master level at an engineering institution in a developing country. The paper considers the economic and commercial viability of important aspects of its discipline integrated to the other areas such as, very large scale integration (VLSI), data processing, information storage and material technologies, laser processing, robotics, quantum electronics, micro-controller technology mechanical and manufacturing engineering and transducer, PLC and its interfaces systems. The paper also highlights the required courses to be added to the mechatronics curriculum for experts from different interrelated areas such as mechanical and manufacturing, electronics, control and computer engineering and applied sciences.
