Abstract

Implementation of a state estimation for distribution networks comprises additional challenges when compared with state estimators used in energy management system for high voltage power system networks. One of these is the formulation and implementation of network observability analysis on multiphase medium and low voltage distribution power networks. This paper presents a systemic method for multiphase observability analysis including identifying observable islands in unbalanced distribution systems state estimation. A tutorial example is provided for the detailed implementation. Simulation results in IEEE test feeders are presented.
