Abstract

The rapid growth in portable devices has been well documented and all indications are that the growth will continue at a torrid pace. This increase in growth has been accompanied by an increase in the power and functionality of the various devices and, consequently, increased requirements of their power devices. The authors describe how the use of long run-time, high energy storage, lightweight rechargeable batteries can be used for such applications. This paper first looks at rechargeable zinc-air battery technology in comparison with other rechargeable battery technologies.
