Abstract
Marriage is an essential factor that inspires motivation for life and rehabilitation. However, due to the social exclusion experienced by the disabled, social conditions for marriage have not been sufficiently provided. There have been few domestic empirical studies on the marriage life of the disabled, and no study has been conducted from the perspective of social exclusion. Therefore, this study analyzed the data of the 2020 Survey on the Status of Persons with Disabilities (N=4,650) using the Hekman two-stage model. The results show that, the factors statistically associated with the possibility of marriage include the degree of need for help(-), owned house(+), beneficiary(-), subjective economic status(+), and the number of years of education(+). Factors related to marital satisfaction include the degree of need for help (-), housing satisfaction (+) and participation in economic activities (+). In particular, the degree of need for help due to disability was found to be significantly related to marital status and marital satisfaction, suggesting the need for help support in the marriage of disabled people. Based on these findings, the implications of lowering social exclusion related to the marital status and marital satisfaction of the disabled were discussed.
