How Internal Gas Forces Affect the Reliability of Reciprocating Compressors

Abstract

Robert X. Perez has more than 30 years of rotating equipment experience in the petrochemical industry. He earned a BSME degree from Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas, USA), an MSME degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas. Perez is a regular columnist for Gas Compression Magazine. Robert Akins has worked in the gas pipeline and gas processing industry for more than 35 years. During that time, he has worked as a mechanic, a condition monitoring technician, and in maintenance supervisory roles. Akins is currently a maintenance superintendent for a major gas transmission and processing company in Texas.
