Abstract
This article presents the results of experiments on a doubly fed induction machine (DFIM) controlled by a rotor side frequency converter (RSC). This drive is widely used in the electric power industry and, in particular, in variable speed wind turbine systems (WTS). At the same time, the possibility of effective parrying of changes in pressure and wind speed by mechanical torque of DFIM controlled by RSC remains insufficiently studied. On the other hand, it is known that the dynamics of the DFIM does not provide effective operation with fast variations in the wind (speed and pressure). In modern WTS, the transmission of energy to the grid is most often blocked during strong changes in wind parameters. This significantly reduces the overall efficiency of the wind energy conversion system (WECS). The article presents the results of experiments that show a number of features of DFIM controlled by RSC when exposed to mechanical loads. And on the basis of previous studies, proposals were formulated to improve the efficiency of parrying DFIM of momentary variations from the wind side.
