Abstract

The partial response decision feedback equaliser (DFE) solution is derived by applying Wiener filter theory and the principle of orthogonality to obtain novel expressions for the optimum filter tap weights and the minimum mean square error (MSE). The effective filter lengths for the DFE are determined. The theoretical derivations are verified by simulations.
