WiFi-based In-home Fall-detection Utility: Application of WiFi Channel State Information as a Fall Detection Service

Abstract

Falls are a leading cause of injury and death in older generations. An in-home fall monitoring system increases safety while allowing for continued independence. The WiFi-based In-home Fall-detection Utility monitors a user by harnessing WiFi Channel State Information, distinguishes falls from normal daily activities, and, if a fall occurs, automatically notifies the user's selected emergency contacts.
