Abstract

The Java platform provides a fully fledged programming environment for graphics applications using the Abstract Window Toolkit (AWT). We present a power-aware basis profile of the Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) for embedded applications. The low-power basis profile (LPBP) is responsive to backlight luminance scaling in such a way that dynamic adjustment of the backlight luminance is accompanied by adaptive image compensation.
