Abstract

A bandwidth reconfigurable planar antenna for WLAN/ WiMAX applications is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular radiation patch with a narrow vertical slot and an L-shaped slot, a ground plane and a microstrip feed-line. Two PIN diodes are attached in the middle of the L-shape slot. They are used to control the current flow on the radiation patch. Therefore, the bandwidth reconfigurability is enabled by switching the operating states of PIN diodes. The impedance bandwidth ranges from 22% to 78%.
