Abstract

The simulation of various types of bio-signals is used to assess the functional parameters and reliability of the embedded algorithms for automated signal processing in medical systems. Identification of the pacing stimulus (artefacts superimposed on the electrocardiogram (ECG)) is very important because they indicate the presence of the pacemaker and help in evaluating its interaction with the heart. The aim of this paper is to present a simple approach for paced ECG simulation by superimposing pulses with adjustable parameters on electrocardiographic signals from different sources.
