In this paper, we formulate an optimization problem to jointly decide the caching policy and the routing decision. There are two challenges: the need for distributed control and the lack of future information. We therefore develop an online distributed algorithm with provable performance guarantees in terms of convergence and competitive ratio compared to the offline optimal solution. Abstract
Edge caching is an effective approach to improve the quality of service for mobile users and therefore a critical component for 5G networks.
