Abstract

In this talk I will overview our ongoing theoretical and experimental work on light manipulation with bulk transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs). Specifically, I will show that owing to their high refractive index and strong anisotropy, structures made of bulk TMDC offer >30% stronger light confinement as compared to conventional semiconductor counterparts, paving the way to higher integration density and energy efficiency of optical devices.
