A mother as a single parent in Lasiana Village has a dual role in the children's need fulfilment. As a single mother, working to fulfil family's need is not effortless. There are numbers of consideration demanded to be adapted and carried out without the presence of a husband. The objective of this study is to reveal the role of mothers as single parent in families in Lasiana Village. The approach of the study utilised a descriptive qualitative. The technique of informant selection was carried out through purposive sampling. The data collection technique was conducted through observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was carried out by the process of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The result of the study obtained a depiction of single mothers at Lasiana village carrying out the dual role well in fulfilling the children's need in families. There are several roles/functions of mothers as single parent in fulfilling children's needs in families such as affection function, socialising, protection, and education which are carried out well in general. However, the economic function is not carried out well as the others due to the single mothers have lack of capability to fulfil families' needs as a result of having impermanent jobs.
