The purpose of the article is to present the results of a study of students’ opinions on the principles of a healthy lifestyle, on the main problems of its formation in a higher educational institution. The article shows that psychological factors are of particular importance in the process of forming a healthy lifestyle. Particularly emphasized is the role of motivation and the correct worldview of students, allowing them to resist deviant behavior. The study revealed that only about one third of students adhere to a healthy lifestyle among students, although the vast majority of students are motivated to adhere to the principles of a healthy lifestyle, considering them important. Among the most common reasons that prevent a healthy lifestyle, students indicated poor nutrition, physical inactivity, smoking and drinking, desynchronosis, and sexual problems. The article shows that the formation of a healthy lifestyle for students is a complex problem and is carried out in a complex interaction of the student’s personality, in the whole variety of its individual psychological properties, with environmental conditions that can have both positive and negative effects on the student’s value system. The modern system of higher education needs a comprehensive, adequate to the realities of today, a program for the formation of a healthy lifestyle of students.
