Design of two-channel perfect reconstruction filter bank with specified LPF magnitude frequency response

Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of designing a perfect reconstruction filter bank with a specification on the magnitude response of the prototype low pass filter. It is shown that adopting a particular ITR form for the squared magnitude frequency response of the low pass filter allows one to generate a PRFB. A method for matching this form to a desired magnitude frequency response is developed. An example is provided to illustrate the approach.
