Abstract
This paper focuses on the performance assessment of a complex wavelet transform (CWT) based passive islanding detection technique in a three-phase utility interactive inverter system under various transient scenarios such as faults, unbalance and distorted grid voltage. It is envisaged in various litterers that passive detection techniques have a larger nondetection zone (NDZ), whereas active islanding detection techniques have smaller NDZ. But, active detection scheme deteriorates the power quality (PQ) of a system. In this study, a CWT based detection scheme is used to obtain time-frequency localization of the islanding situation as well as PQ disturbances in a DG interfacing inverter system. The system is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK platform for demonstrating the effectiveness and superior performance of CWT based detection technique compared to conventional db8 wavelet transform (WT) under various perturbations.
