Abstract
For high pressure polyethylene applications, reliable temperature and pressure measurement with extremely fast response time, is crucial in order to avoid decomposition. Furthermore instrumentation must withstand not only the high pressures and temperatures, but also the vibration present in such a challenging environment. The requirements of temperature and pressure instrumentation include high quality mineral insulated cable, production techniques such as vacuum brazing and thin film sputtering as well as testing facilities. With this information, operators will be able to select high pressure thermocouples and pressure transmitters which are specifically designed for their application.
