Caring for Indigenous people

Abstract

INTRODUCTION Th is chapter describes the context of Indigenous Australians’ poor general health, and particular factors infl uencing their alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) and mental health (MH) problems. It presents information about Indigenous peoples’ holistic view of health and culturally respectful care. Screening, assessment and interventions for Indigenous people are discussed. Some key resources are provided regarding useful websites and additional reading.
