Reburial of a 16th Century Galleon

Abstract

For eight years (1978 85) the Marine Archaeoy< logy Unit of Environment Canada was involved in the excavation of Spanish Basque whaling vessels in Labrador. During excavation, one of the galleons was completely disassembled. Upon completion of excavation and structural recording, the timbers were systematically reburied on the seabed using a method intended to preserve the timbers.
