Abstract

Using C-band data (h-pol) from the ERS-2 AMI scatterometer and Ku-band data (dual-pol) from the NASA Scatterometer we study the seasonal signatures of key vegetation classes in North America. We compare the seasonal responses of vegetation types defined by both Matthew's classification and the University of Maryland AVHRR-based classification. We then use the seasonal response in a series of vegetation classification experiments.
