Abstract
Historical methods for characterizing transmission line/antenna systems are discussed. A new approach using the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm with Frequency Domain Refledtometry to Identify the amplitudes and locations of multiple mismatches in a single pass is introduced. Refinement techniques include quadratic interpolation and windowing for increased amplitude and location accuracy, and correlation for rejecting harmonics and high power "foreign" (interference) signals.
