Abstract

Blood separation involves isolation of particles and cells present in the blood that are called blood products - viz red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and cryoprecipitates. Separation of whole blood into its blood products helps the patients to get only the necessary required part from whole blood. The design in this paper gives the idea of the separation of platelets from whole blood using the di-electrophoresis principle. The device is designed in such a way that it separates platelets with a reduced power consumption with 2.5 volts. It records an efficiency of 99.10% with minimum time duration or segregation of 0.7s making it an efficient design for blood segregation units.
