Abstract

The Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) is the largest wind power project in Africa. Located in the Marsabit County of Northern Kenya, the region suffers from outbreaks of ethnic violence and attrac little in development schemes. Hailed for being a model private-public partnership, Kenya’s first step towards its vision of 100% renewable energy is fraught with community protest and ongoing court battles that cast a shadow on internationally channelled sustainable development projects.
