Abstract

High Amplitude sharp Gaussian pulses are the key exciting sources in imaging radars to achieve good range and high resolution in thick and lossy mediums. In this paper, a new method of generating high amplitude gaussian and gaussian monocycle pulses using BJT based driver circuit and Step Recovery Diode based pulse sharpener is reported. Measured pulses from the proposed generator have peak amplitude of 15V and pulse width of 500ps.
