Abstract

Graphical methods of relating transmission-line parameters to the degree of protection against a flashover, caused by lightning striking the line, are presented. It is assumed that a static line is provided above the phase conductors and it is the static line which receives the stroke, or that a dissipative array is used, intended to prevent a direct stroke to the phase conductors or communication cable carried on the poles.<>
