I am a Cambodian Classical Dancer

Abstract

It is a widespread belief among Cambodian people that Cambodian classical dance is a simple and pleasurable skill and has little value in relation to the other skills in society. Yet classical dance is an art form that is becoming increasingly prominent in Cambodia. It reflects the Khmer identity and has gained attention on the international stage as a unique art form due to its technique, integrity, and elaborate costumes. There are many facets of my life that are intertwined with classical dance and art: this chapter gives a brief description of a small dimension of my life in dance as a Cambodian dancer.
