Time-domain simulation of wave propagation in an overhead wire with a lossy ground return

Abstract

This paper describes the application of a thin-wire TLM approach to the simulation of wave propagation in an overhead wire with a ground return. An outline of the formulation of the thin-wire technique is given. The character- istic impedances and propagation coe-cients of overhead lines are calculated for various typical ground properties. The results are similar to those reported in the literature obtained from analytic formulations.
