Abstract

This paper introduces a novel protection principle for lines connected to the bulk power system at one end (system terminal) and terminated exclusively on power transformers or current-limiting reactors at the other end (transformer terminal). The new protection principle operates as fast as 1 to 2 ms and covers the entire line length without the need for a protection channel.
