It was carried out in public institutions of eighth grade of basic education in Ecuador. The participants were 150 Spanish native speakers who were divided into an experimental group (75 students) who received English lessons with EFL YouTube videos, and a control group (75 students) who did not use this resource. Also, 4 pre-service EFL teachers and 4 university teachers participated. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used and students' questionnaires, tests, observation sheets and surveys were applied. The methodology involved 16 English lessons in which pre-service students were in charge of preparing activities that included the use of EFL YouTube videos with the purpose of enhancing learners' vocabulary.
