A detailed refurbishment and validation test plan was established to reduce surface electrical discharge activity and to extend the in-service life of the motor. Abstract

This paper presents an online partial discharge (PD) trending and data interpretation, related to several similar motors in critical non-spared services. Online partial discharge patterns and trending’s were studied to demonstrate if aging conditions were relevant to the motor stator winding.
