Abstract
A slotted substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) with a simple structure for millimeterwave security applications is proposed. The antenna is embedded in a double-sided copper clad substrate and is manufactured at low cost. The antenna is categorized as a periodic leaky-wave antenna (PLWA). The antenna is designed so that –1st order space harmonic radiates into the backward quadrant. This leads to the achievement of a wide scan angle in a limited bandwidth. The design of the antenna with 100 series radiating slots is demonstrated. The simulated beam scan angle of the designed antenna is 20.4 degrees over the bandwidth from 77 GHz to 81 GHz.
