Challenges for Electric Vehicle Adoption in Bangladesh

Abstract

Electric Vehicles (EV) are adding new dimension in the transportation sector as well as consuming huge electric power. Although, it becomes very popular due to numerous benefits such as- limits fossil fuel consumption, increases the environmental sustainability through low GHG emission, less sound pollution and cost-effective transport medium. However, EV adoption in Bangladesh becomes very challenging due to several barriers. This paper aimed to explore the potential factors that will be the challenges for EV adoption in the context of Bangladesh. In this paper, EV penetration is studied using SWOT analysis. In addition, this paper recommends several policies to overcome those challenges of EV penetration.
