It is required that the existing transmission interconnection network is utilized fully to deliver the power demanded, maintaining its quality. This paper intends to place shunt compensation at an optimal position so as to maintain the voltage at various buses in the network within a narrow range. MATLAB program is developed and load flow studies are tested on 14-bus system and optimal value as well as the position of the compensation is obtained.
