Abstract

The concept of Digital Twin (DT) is an emerging technology in several industries. Applications such as predictive maintenance make technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) essential. The main objective of this paper is to present a new approach based on IoT technology for intelligent data acquisition for the generation of a DT in the railway industry. This approach is proposed to support the SIA European H2020 project, which aims to provide an on-board system for maintenance prediction in passenger trains. For instance, a detailed description of the system requirements, communication technologies and functionalities adopted by the presented proposal is made.
