Abstract

GPUs are increasingly present in personal computers. Most of thetime they are idle. Using the memory resources of these devicescan free up space in the host’s RAM, allowing the operating systemto use it efficiently. This work presents the initial implementationof GPUramfs, a volatile file system that uses the GPU as a storagedevice. The system exhibited good performance even in comparisonto EXT4 using NVMe high throughput disks.
