Cultural Aspects of Global Requirements Engineering: An Empirical Chinese-German Case Study

Abstract

Global software development places extremely high demands on requirements engineering. Learning to combine requirements engineering techniques across national, cultural and language borders presents unique challenges for developers. In this paper, we explore the significant cultural challenges to requirements engineering in global software development. As an empirical case study, we look at the difficulties involved in applying requirements engineering methods to a joint Chinese-German software project.
