Abstract

Recently a series of tests of a 1/50 jack-up model in waves were completed using a portable data acquisition system at the University of New Orleans. The motion response of the model was measured in random waves and the test data extrapolated to provide full-scale predictions. The data acquisition for these wave induced motion tests consisted of a portable data acquisition system previously used for ocean transport monitoring. This system was modified for the model test program inputs. The successful completion of the tests showed the data acquisition system as reliable and user friendly system that enabled the test matrix to be completed in a relatively short period of time.
