Our study is based on three theoretical perspectives 1) social recognition (Honneth, 2000), 2) the ethic of care (Tronto, 2008) and 3) the support trajectory (Corbin, 1992). Six individual interviews were conducted with caregivers in three counties in NB. The results showed that the relationship between the caregiver and the elderly parent is central to the support trajectory.
