Musculoskeletal problems of upper and lower limbs

Abstract

This chapter first describes common musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limb, including adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder, glenohumeral joint arthritis, acromioclavicular joint arthritis, rotator cuff disease, tennis elbow/lateral epicondylalgia and golfer’s elbow/medial epicondylalgia, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis/intersection syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, carpal tunnel syndrome, and work-related upper limb disorders. It then goes on to describe common musculoskeletal disorders of the lower limb including osteoarthritis, greater trochanter pain syndrome, tendinopathy: patellar tendon/Achilles tendon/tibialis posterior tendon, plantar fasciopathy, and Morton’s neuroma. Management of symptoms and assessment of cases are all described and suggestions for further reading and useful websites are given.
