Abstract

Biography Professor James Alty obtained a first class honours degree in Physics and a PhD in Nuclear Physic,.; from Liverpool University. Froin 1968 he worked at IBM (UK) Ltd for four years as a Senior Systems Engineer and Account Executive. In 1972 he was appointed Director of Computer Services a t Liverpool University, and was awarded a Chair in 1979. I t was in Liverpool, in 1976, that he commenced research into human computer interaction.
